Castle Howard Coronet. We are proud to support one of Britain’s most recognisable and treasured heritage sites, Castle Howard. This decadent arrangement is inspired by the magnificent 8,800-acre estate. Working with Castle Howard, a place like no other, we have produced an arrangement designed to impress. Prestige Flowers have worked closely with the team at Castle Howard to create this stunning bouquet in commemoration of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee to represent the connections between the great Yorkshire family of Castle Howard and the Royal Family. The connections of Castle Howard and the Howard family to British Royalty are intertwined throughout history, from supplying two wives to Henry VIII (who both lost their heads!), to hosting Queen Victoria at Castle Howard in 1850, and attending Queen Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953. The Earl’s and Countesses of Carlisle who were seated at Castle Howard until the early 20th century would have worn beautiful regalia to many state occasions including coronations and one of the most famous items of regalia worn by the Earls and Countesses of Carlisle was the coronet. The Coronet of an Earl is traditionally a coronet of 8 strawberry leaves, with 8 pearls on raised stalks, the coronet is a symbol of the family’s status and also appears on the family crest located around Castle Howard most noticeably above the South Façade of the House. This beautiful bouquet of berries, astilby, hypericum complimented with royal garden foliage has been created to represent the White Roses of Yorkshire and the 8 pearls represented in the coronet of Castle Howard. Proceeds from this bouquet will be given to Castle Howard to contribute to the continued preservation and conservation of this beautiful Heritage site and to contribute to the maintenance towards the stunning grounds, to preserve heritage to be enjoyed for many years to come..
